Kenton Tyler Shelby- age 25 passed away May 14, 2016.
He was born in Nashville, TN on July 6, 1990. When remembering Tyler some of the first words that come to mind are generous, passionate, loving, easy-going, sweet natured, genuine, amazing, loveable, and selfless. One of the most important things in his life was Jesus and his family. He was a man of faith who attended Long Hollow Baptist Church and gave his life to Jesus Christ on Easter of this year.
Tyler was a metal polisher by trade and was absolutely passionate about it. He really enjoyed his work and was very good at it.
Tyler loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hiking. He loved watching movies, especially Star Wars and Platoon. He also enjoyed a wide variety of music but you could be sure to hear the songs Simple Man, Free Bird or Country Boy Can Survive if you hung out with him long enough.
If you asked Tyler what his favorite places were, his response would have been the lake or wherever Candice was.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers. James Curry Shelby and H.N. Walker.
He is survived by the love of his life, Candace Kent and her son Mason; parents, Phillip and Brenda Shelby; brother, Drew Shelby and daughter McKenna; grandmothers, Ruth Shelby and Wilma Deering (Billy).
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Celebrate Recovery at Long Hollow Baptist Church Hendersonville, TN.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday at 10am at Hendersonville Funeral Home with visitation held one hour prior. The family will also receive friends on Monday from 4-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home 353 E Main St Hendersonville, TN 37075 615-824-3855 hendersonvillefh.com

Words cannot express the deep sorrow I’m feeling as I write this. Phil, Brenda, Candace, I’m praying for you all as well as the whole family. We know in the deepest place of our hearts that we will see Tyler again and the good news is, we’ll spend way more time with him in heaven than we had with him here, eternity is forever, thank you Jesus!

Tyler and I were in a bible study together just lately and I knew he knew and loved the Lord. I’m a better person for knowing Tyler Shelby. Heaven is a lot better place with him being there now. Jesus has got him now. I love Tyler’s family very much and I’m here for you.

If answers seem out of reach, God isn’t.
If daylight seems out of view, hope isn’t.
If healing seems a long way off, caring isn’t.
Praying that peace, hope & comfort will be with you!

Dear Phil and Brenda. My heart goes out to you in losing Tyler. As you probably know, we lost our son, Charles, when he was 19, 34 years ago.. The pain never goes away as some will tell you; however, you learn to live with it and carry on with your life. I’m sure that’s what Tyler would want you to do. I went to a funeral for a friend this afternoon. The pastor was Mike Shelby and said he had to go to Hendersonville for his nephew’s visitation. Strange, but it must be the same pastor. He had an excellent service. Will see you tomorrow and will be praying for you as you go through this awful time in your life. Phil, I will not be wearing a hat!! Love and prayers and sympathy. Wayne and Lynda Jones

Brenda & Phil….I can’t imagine losing my child. Steve & I are so sorry for your loss. I am thrilled though reading that Tyler knew Jesus as his Savior and was baptized this past Easter! Prayers for love and strength to you Phil & Brenda, and family. No words can go as far as to touch the depth of your loss, but I do pray with all heart & soul, that you know you both are known and loved by God as He will show you the way each day; just a step at a time- as we all get closer to our heavenly home. One day we will be with all of our loved ones that have gone before us, and of this my heart is made glad and my sadness is made into a joy that only being in the Lord and walking/talking to Him each day brings! May God bless you both in a such a rich way as you share all the wonderful memories of knowing and loving this sweet and precious son as God also knows and loves you while the angels look on in awe. All of my love,

    Dawn
