Patsy “Pat” Jane Adkins Holland- age 73 passed away November 7, 2016. She was a 1961 graduate of DuPont High School in Old Hickory, TN. She was a loving and devoted mother and nana. When describing “Pat”, “selfless”, “giving”, “compassionate”, “spunky”, and “independent” come to mind. She was devoted to the love of her life, our dad, James, and could not wait until they were reunited again. Before her decline in health, she loved to travel and garden. Some of her favorite places to visit were Mobile and Foley, Alabama, “The Bay” at Panama City and Tunica. Everyone knew that her 6 grandsons and great- granddaughter were her pride and joy. Even when Pat was in so much pain, her concern was always for everyone else.
Mother loved the holidays, especially Christmas. From decorating to presents and the Christmas Dinner --- Oh! The Christmas Dinner! ---- She always made sure it was taken care of, and it has always been one of the fondest of memories over the years. But, as for food … her favorites were maple doughnuts and strawberry shakes!
Giving to a fault, she worried about others instead of herself. … A loving soul to all who knew her …. She will be forever loved and missed.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Holland. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Martin (Tommy) and Sherrie Pruitt (Chris); grandchildren, Ryan Martin (Lauren), Austin Pruitt, Matthew Martin, Jamison Pruitt, Ethan Martin and Jordan Pruitt; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Pruitt and brother, James Adkins.
A life celebration service will be held on Friday at 12pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Chesser officiating. Interment will follow in Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4pm-8pm and Friday from 10am-12pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home 353 E Main St Hendersonville, TN 37075 615-824-3855

Pat and I worked together for the state of Tennessee. We traveled to New Jersey with two coworkers to a Little People of America convention in 1965. Pat was one of my best friends and just last week I thought about calling her. I am sorry for your loss. We had a lot of fun together.

I am so sorry that I am now finding a dear and beloved friend. Years ago I tried to locate her with no luck. In our early years we were very close and spent a great deal of time together. She lived directly behind my aunt in Old Hickory and we visited each others homes in addition to the times I stayed with my Aunt Roberto Holmes and cousins Opal and Johnny next door. We were the same age(my birthdate 12/31/1943), we graduated the same year(1961). I lived in Gallatin. The last time I seen her they lived off of Nashville Pike near The Shack and Woody’s but I had lost the exact address, so later I could not find her. I enjoyed watching the video and could see so much of the Pat I knew in her eyes. I know she was a great lady, wife, mother and nana and will be truly missed. I hope this is not to late for the family to receive. I am going to look for our pictures and put a copy of the obit with them.
