As you go through this sorrowful time, you can be assured that God does care about you. God promises that he “is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalms 34:18) Nothing can bring you more peace of mind than the inspired words of… “the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations.” (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) God promises that in the future he…” will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more.” (Revelation 21:4) I hope you find some comfort in these words. Take Care.

Greg I appreciate your passion about David’s passing but u have a few things wrong his mother was never in the picture for him or Darrin.Thats why our grandparents raised them which by the way was the best thing that ever happened to them.Uncle Donnie God love him was a Downard n we have our faults he did his best I guess but let’s just say thank God he was living at my grandparents. While things weren’t in there about us u have to understand his wife is doing this alone in Tennessee. So please understand her pain n we get to see him when he is put to rest at the Downard cemetery Sunday.Thank u sir for ur understanding . What a SHOCKER!!! I just heard of the passing of Mr. Downard from someone I referred. What a Sad time–he was not just a legal-head, but he “genuinely” cared…and had the compassion for the needs of all he served. I only had a brief moment to speak with him on a couple of occasions; each time, he seemed to really listen and assure me that he’d be a “bulldog” in the ring for me–HE WAS. But he also took the time out of his VERY demanding life to share a’bit of his life…like his love for fishing. Maybe, we’ll get the time do some together one day? “Sir, I will be honored!”

I was heartbroken to hear my attorney David Downward has passed away…He was the best lawyer I’ve ever met…he successfully has won five disability cases in my family…three of my brothers and even my husband…I would lay my trust in him with my case because he was the one that would tell you not to give up…he was so easy to talk to…like a regular person an not a Big Shot lawyer in a suit…I’m so blessed to have met this very caring soul that was so full of life. God be with his wife an family an just know that he would want you to take care of yourself an his love is in your heart forever an is everlasting…Prayers for all the family.

I only knew David as an attorney but he put his whole heart into representing my daughter, and many years later, me. We had a hard time getting disability for Amber because she wasn’t diagnosed with Aspergers until she was in her mid-twenties. Back in the ‘90’s not many people had heard about it. David told me he would fight until he just couldn’t fight anymore. We gathered our facts and entering before the judge I felt confident with this man beside us. I’ve referred many people to David’s firm over the years and have been pleased to watch him grow. I’m saddened that an honest man has left us.

I worked with Richard Braun on the 5th Floor of the 501 Building for 8.5 years where David had his office for years. Our office is now in Gallatin, but I cannot believe I am just finding out about David’s death! I am in shock.

David was one of the few attorneys I have known that was openly friendly to everyone in the building. He never played the “attorney” status card. My prayers are with David’s wife and family members during this very sad time. He was a wonderful man.
