Mr. Douglas Wayne Fontaine age 51, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2019.

Mr. Fontaine was born in Chillicothe, OH, on August 30, 1967, the son of Betsy Borders App (George) and the late Charles Fontaine. He worked with Home Depot as a manager for seventeen years. Douglas will be remembered for his love for everyone. Also, he was a mentor for so many people and a constant inspiration to all he met. He had an amazing sense of humor and enjoyed using this to gain friends. If someone he knew was in need he would do what was necessary to help provide as much support as possible. He was always kind and generous in that respect. His sudden passing left a huge void in the lives of all that knew him. Please keep him in your hearts and prayers and remember his passing with honor, respect and much love. He will be greatly missed. He enjoyed reading and drawing on his computer. In addition to his father, Mr. Fontaine is preceded in death by his sister, Dawn Warrix.

In addition to his mother and step-father, Douglas is survived by his partner of thirty-one years, Michael Ratliff.

What a beautiful photo. Douglas was a wonderful person from childhood on, his entire life. He was truly loved by so many and he returned that love as well. Especially Michael.

I only knew Douglas for a short time working with him at Kroger, but we all loved him. He always made us smile and did what he could to make sure we didn’t have a bad day. He is greatly missed.

I caught your eye…..You caught mine too….We came fast
friends with much to do……Years went by I could not
wait…..To be with you was truly fate……

Douglas was the epitome of generosity. He made fast friends and enjoyed working with them and also being a mentor to those who needed his help. He would give a gentle push to make his friends become the best they could be and excel beyond their own expectations. He was a healer in his own way by making people feel better about themselves and thus have a brighter life. His light was extinguished far too soon and I am broken without him.

Douglas and I met 36 years ago and became partners 5 years later. Thirty one years seems like a long time but yet vanishes in the blink of an eye. I guess we all take our time here for granted til we lose our loved ones. Believe me……life is not as long as we think it is……..By all means cherish each day and surround yourself with the love and compassion of your friends and families. Don’t sit idly by and watch as others dance and embrace the future. Jump up and join in to claim your place in the sun and make those strangers into new friends. Be all you can be with the much needed help of those loving hearts that surround you. Live your bucket list daily………don’t put it off……run towards your future…………Don’t sit alone in silence…………..

You were always my rock my love…..I knew at first you
were the one…..I wish our time had never ended…..We’ll
meet again and shall be splendid……….

We are truly sorry for the loss of Douglas. Our loving Creator wants to comfort you with his promise that he makes through his son, Jesus, who states, “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” (John 5:28,29) May this promise of a resurrection bring you comfort and hope for the future.

You were so important to my career and my life. My first boss at HD. One of the first out gay people I encountered at work. You provided me with so much wit, whimsy and wisdom. You will always be one of my favorite people. Taught me to take life just serious enough to fool everyone. You’ll be a voice in my head for a long time. I’m so glad you were kind enough to notice me. I definitely noticed you.

I first met Doug when he and I worked together at Home Depot years ago. What a joy, an inspiration, pure light. He and I truly loved working evenings together and we always were team players. It is with a heavy heart, that I hear of his passing ….but knowing, he is resting in a better place. An angel has garnered his wings. I send my prayers and condolences to family n friends at this difficult time.
