My sympathies to Pam and the entire family. Every time I ever think of Yunk, I see him with a big grin on his face headed toward my desk in Finance at City Hall. He’d stop by every morning and his greeting was always the same, “Give ’em hell Gail!” Then we’d have a short conversation before starting our work day. Those conversations often had him bragging about his kids or grandkids. He was very proud of each of you. I missed that daily greeting after I retired, and I will always miss it. Rest in peace Yunk.

I had the pleasure of working with Steve for a few years as a coworker and as someone who called on him for inspections. We remained friends throughout the years. Steve always had an upbeat attitude and showed up with a smile. And just like Gail said, he was always bragging on his children and his grandchildren. Steve was one of the good guys and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pam, Brad, Brian and the whole family.

Pam and boys my heart and prayers are with you all at this time. There is no words I can say that could even let you know how I feel about you guys. This is a small paragraph I wish I could have said to Steve, but I know he knew. Steve Our family is getting smaller. 5 have gone before you. Now as you join them only 2 of the 8 are left. It is very hard to say good bye to you. You where more a brother than a cousin. Life will be so empty without you. There has been a cardinal out side my window for the last two days. It must be one of you 6 watching over us. God has taken your hand and taken you to his home. Love you forever

My prayers go out to Pam, Brad, Brian and the entire Yunker family. As many have already said, Steve was not only a “master” plumber but also a master at loving and enjoying his family. I had the pleasure of working with him for many many years and will miss his famous Yunkerisms. No more plumbing inspections my friend, it’s time to take that well earned rest.

    Pam and family,
Brian and I are so saddened at the loss of your husband, dad, and granddad. He loved you all so much and was so proud of his family. “Yunk” and I shared a birthday every year. He always said he was my brother from another mother (and father). Loved those Yunkerisms! Truly he was a unique and special person. He will be so missed.

I worked with Steve doing Building and Fire Inspections for many years. I also worked with Brad at the Fire Dept. Steve always was upbeat and telling corny jokes and just overall a lot of fun. He was very knowledgeable in the plumbing field and immediately tell when something was not up to par. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for his family for comfort.Godspeed my Friend.

I remember the first time I saw Yunker. I was sitting at my desk and I looked up and there standing at the front counter was a man smilling from ear to ear. I asked if I could help him, still smilling, he said he would be working with me as Plumbing Inspector. He began talking then and I did not stop. Yunker was very special. Pam, as you and the boys know, there will never be another Yunker. So sorry for your loss.

As children Steve and my brother Perry and I were close and I have many Happy Memories of Steve at my Grandparents house.. As we grow up , distance and immediate family and work take up our time. I am so glad I was able to spend time with Steve before the Corona virus hit. We laughed and he showed us the garage he had remodeled and it was spectacular. Too many times we only see family at funerals. That is a Day Late and a dollar short.

Pam and Mary Liz I do know this is a hard time for you. We are never ready to see our loved one leave us. Steve put up and Good fight and now he can rest . My thought and prayers are with you at this time.

Our prayers, Pam, for you and your boys. Steve was such a special guy — so talented and always smiling. We were so excited and impressed to tour Steve’s remodeled garage. We were mightily blessed by Steve’s life. We will remember his gentle ways, his strong testimony and love for the Lord and his family. Such a positive guy who fought a good fight. He will be missed by us and so many other friends. Pam, you were such a loving and devoted wife and strong support for Steve. May you find comfort and peace, especially during this time of earthly loss. We love you, Pam, and thankful for our friendship. You remain in our prayers. Charlie and Becky Rau
