Alan James Ewen, 71, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023. Alan was born on July 24, 1951, in Gary, Indiana to Earl James Ewen and Agnes (Calabrese) Ewen.
Alan was a talented man. He began playing the Accordion at 5 and then at 6 picked up the guitar. He had a natural talent for music. He was a singer, song writer, had his own recording studio (Big Al’s), toured with his brothers Greg and Dennis in the Ewen Brothers Band, won the Iowa Song Writers Award for his song Fantasy recorded by his later band Sunfield. Alan’s musical talent was equaled by his ability to fix anything broken. If a part was needed and could not be found, he would make the part himself. He also had a scientific mind, participating and winning multiple times state science fairs; particularly building a talking robot. Alan’s most important and significant role was of a loving dad, son, and brother. He had a great love for the Lord and also wrote multiple Gospel songs.
Alan is preceded in death by his father Earl Ewen and his nephew Joshua Ewen. He is survived by his daughter Angela (Mike) Wickstrom; mother Agnes Ewen-Kelley; grandson Micheal Wickstrom, Jr.; sister Tina (Tim) Simmons; and brothers Greg Ewen and Dennis Ewen. In addition, he is survived by his nieces Chelsea (Chance), Jessica, and Sarah, and close friends Todd, Chuck, Doug, Ron, Jack, and Peter.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 11am-1pm at Hendersonville Church of God

A funeral service will begin at 1pm with burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
