With a spirit as vibrant as his trademark smile, Allen Erbe Zettergren, Jr., of Hendersonville, TN, began his greatest adventure yet on September 20, 2024, when he entered eternal life. Born in Memphis, TN, on August 2, 1949, Al brought joy, laughter, and a boundless enthusiasm to everyone he met.
A man who could light up any room, Al was the epitome of charisma. Whether he was on the golf course with his friends, enjoying the magic of Disney, or participating actively in his church community, he approached life with a contagious zest that made those around him feel special. He was a dedicated worker, a devoted family man, and a lover of life’s simple pleasures.
Al is preceded in death by his parents, Allen E. Zettergren and Cora Zettergren, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms in heaven. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Bettye Badger Zettergren, who was his constant companion and best friend. His legacy lives on through his children: Zack Zettergren and his wife Becky, and Liz Burns and her husband Jake, all of Hendersonville, TN. He was a proud grandfather to Carlee Zettergren, Grant Zettergren, Lukas Gilliam, and Jakob Gilliam, who will forever remember his infectious laughter and loving spirit.
Al is also survived by his brothers David Zettergren (Paula) and Jeff Zettergren (Ann Marie), both of Senatobia, MS, and his sister Janelle Zettergren of Olive Branch, MS. His extended family of nieces, nephews, and countless friends will cherish the countless memories and joy he brought into their lives.
Al had an incredible ability to make everyone feel like family. He had a love for life that was unmatched, whether he was cheering on his favorite sports teams, telling a great story, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with those he loved. His presence was larger than life, and he will be remembered for his generosity, his unwavering faith, and his unyielding positive energy.
As we say goodbye to a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, we do so with heavy hearts but with the joy of knowing he is now experiencing the ultimate adventure in heaven. Al’s life was a testament to the beauty of living fully and loving deeply.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hendersonville Church of Christ Medical Equipment Ministry in his memory, a gesture that would truly capture his generous and caring spirit. https://www.hendersonville.org/al
