Obituary

Anthony David Lake, born January 10, 1972, passed away on July 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy deeply rooted in the Hendersonville community. He was a husband, father, cherished son, esteemed coach, and steadfast friend – a man whose warmth, guidance, and dedication touched many lives across generations.

Anthony’s love for learning and his commitment to education began at Hendersonville High School, from which he graduated before pursuing higher goals, obtaining a Masters Degree in Education. His journey as an educator was intrinsically connected to the very school that shaped him; he devoted over twenty years as a coach at Hendersonville High School, and was a teacher for the school for several years. His presence there was more than professional – it was deeply personal, a testament to his belief in mentorship and his unwavering support for those around him.

On the football field, Anthony’s legacy is profound. He led Hendersonville as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, roles that epitomized his dedication and expertise. His passion for the game was evident early on; as a student-athlete, Anthony quarterbacked the first Commandos team to reach the TSSAA playoffs in 1988. His athletic achievements extended beyond football, as Anthony also excelled in baseball, while playing at Birmingham-Southern College. Through highs and lows, his leadership inspired countless students and players, creating memories and milestones that will be cherished for years to come.

Anthony is survived by his beloved wife, Heather Lake, his children, Chase (Shawnna) Lake and Ashelyn Lake,. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Sharon Lake, and his father, Ed (Lori) Lake, whose influence and support shaped Anthony’s values, as well as his sister, Jennifer (Travis) Donaldson. He is also remembered by his dear family friend, Maryann D’Entremont.
