Audrey J. Panichelle, 97, of Smyrna, TN, formerly of Crabtree, PA, passed away March 9, 2022. She was born January 27, 1925, in Curtisville, PA, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Pastor) Opiela.
Prior to retirement, Audrey enjoyed rewarding careers as the manager of the former Hart's Ladies Store and was a Fine Jewelry Sales Associate at the former Service Merchandise, both in Greensburg, PA. Most recently she was an usher at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville.
Audrey was a member of Inglewood United Methodist Church, where she was a volunteer and also volunteered for 24 years at Skyline Madison Campus, where she was a recipient of the 2000 LifeLine award for volunteerism, the Madison Station Senior Center, where she was a recipient of the 2003 Senior Citizens Foundation Leave a Legacy award for volunteerism, and while in Pennsylvania, she served as a former Chairman of the Westmoreland County Unit of the Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children. She was a 2007 recipient of the President's Volunteer Service Award, presented by the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation. Audrey most enjoyed visiting with her family and friends over a good meal, perusing antique shops, and conjuring up impromptu adventures. She was an avid reader, travel enthusiast and couldn't pass up a good game of Dominos.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dominick A. Panichelle; a son, Daniel Pantalone; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann (David) Panichelle; two grandchildren, Katie Daly and Andrew Panichelle and her ex-husband Daniel J. Pantalone.
Audrey is survived by her brother, Richard (Nancy) Opiela of Pace, FL; two daughters JoAnn M. Pantalone-Jolly of Smyrna, TN, and Danielle J. Pantalone of Coraopolis, PA; three stepsons, Joseph (Margaret) Panichelle of Greensboro, PA, Frank (Elgin) Panichelle of Crabtree, PA, and David (Paula) Panichelle of Wilmington, DE; 5 grandchildren, Marc (Nicole) Panichelle of Butler, PA, Amy (Ken) Seitel of Fairfield, CT, Hilah (Corey) Reboskey of Derry, PA, Danielle (Ryan) Autery of Bell Buckle, TN, and Gabrielle Marlene Jolly of Smyrna, TN; thirteen great grandchildren; former son-in-law Raymon A. Jolly II, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, in Hendersonville, on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Allegheny Valley School, Pittsburgh Campus, 1992 Ewings Mill Rd, Coraopolis, PA, 15108-3380.
