Avel loved gathering around the table enjoying a good meal and reminiscing together with his family. He also loved cooking with his wife, mowing the lawn with his daughters, enjoying family bike rides, and the occasional “night cap.” He also had rainbow slippers that he had since high school which always traveled with him. He refused to have thrown them away.
Avel was very talented. For example, he played the trumpet and knew how to sew. His Citadel buddies laughed because he sewed his own pants hems! He even learned how to embroider Ninja Turtles. Avel earned the 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do style karate.
Avel loved Sarah’s cooking. He himself loved making salsas, smoked pizza, and his favorite smoked brisket.
