Born in Carthage, TN on March 9, 1931 Departed on April 30, 2020 and resided in Hendersonville, TN Drive-Thru Visitation: Hendersonville Funeral HomeSunday May 3, 2020 1:00pm to 2:30pm

Mrs. Betty Sue Patterson, age 89, of Hendersonville, TN, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Mrs. Patterson was born in Smith County, TN, on March 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Curtis Eli McClanahan Sr. and Mary Edna Poston McClanahan. Early in her life, she worked at the Standard Candy Company and often reminisced about putting the peanuts into GooGoo Clusters. After her husband returned from Korea, Mrs. Patterson felt very blessed to be a homemaker and caretaker of her family. She took pride in her spotless house and home-cooked meals. Together with her husband, they kept an award-winning landscaped yard. Mrs. Patterson was a member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church. Married to her pastor-husband for 71 years, she was honored to serve along side of him at several churches in the Middle Tennessee area. Well respected by all the churches she and her husband served, she was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 wife, taking care of her husband, her children, her home, and her church members with a servant's heart.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Patterson was preceded in death by her siblings, Sadie, Johnnie Mae, Lorene, Wilma, Mary Ellen, James, Robert and Curtis Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Paul G. Patterson, to whom she was wed on March 13, 1949. Their marriage was blessed with two children; a son, Paul Michael "Mike" Patterson (Darlene); and a daughter, Kim Roberts (Jimmy); two grandchildren, Brent Patterson and Matthew Roberts. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A drive-through visitation will be held Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 1:00 - 2:30 P.M. at Hendersonville Funeral Home.

A private interment service will be held Sunday at Hendersonville Memory Gardens with Pastor Johnny Carver officiating.
