Billie Jean Hawkins O’Brien was born on December 10, 1936 in Jackson County, Tennessee to Bain and Mary Hawkins. She graduated from Hendersonville High School and went to work for the State of Tennessee. She worked for the State until her retirement in 1999.
While working for the State, she met and married Collins Bruce O’Brien. They lived in the Hendersonville area for their entire married life and attended Hendersonville Church of Christ. Billie enjoyed life to the full by spending time with family and friends. She and Collins loved traveling the United States especially with her cousin, Bill Dennis and his wife Linda.
For the last five years, Billie was a resident of Vitality Living. The staff at Vitality were so very kind and caring to Billie. Her family is very appreciative of their love and attentiveness to her.
Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Collins Bruce O’Brien, her parents, Bain & Mary Hawkins, and her sister, Robbie Hawkins Odom. She is survived by her three sons, David (Shelly) O’Brien, Gary (Melissa) O’Brien, and Mark (Heather) O’Brien, her grandchildren - Alex (Sarah) O’Brien, Meredith (Michael) Bernui, Alexis O’Brien and Zack O’Brien, and her great-grandchildren Blakely Collins Bernui and William James O’Brien.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 5:00-8:00pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Services will be conducted on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 2:00pm with visitation being held from 1:00pm until service time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort, Inc.
