"When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight." - Khalil Gibran

Brandon Michael Garrison passed away at his home in Madison, Tennessee June 17, 2020. He leaves behind a loving family including beloved mother and stepfather, his best buddy/grandmother, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, a circle of friends he was fiercely loyal to as well as his two dogs and cat that were always by his side. He asked that when he passed his ashes be spread in the woods in accordance with his spiritual beliefs and his love of nature.

Born the first grandchild and nephew in our family we fell madly in love with him and spoiled him rotten. As a young boy he was a rock collector and an inventor showing us the world in a way we'd never seen it before. As he grew older he quickly mastered the acoustic guitar and loved reading and writing poetry. Though he rarely shared it, those of us that have read it know that he expressed all of him, his wide range of emotional highs and lows, through writing poetry.

Brandon had a deep love for music and in recent years he had become an avid fisherman. He was a natural at all things computer related and had been planning to enroll in classes so that he could pursue a career in network security.

Over the past few months Brandon spent most of his free time creating a large vegetable garden and even successfully cloned a tomato plant which we will nurture to maturity then enjoy the fruits of his labor over a special meal in his honor. He also began clearing a small section of the woods behind his grandparents house where he grew up, which he had already named "Garrison Garden." By hand he cut down trees and hauled loads of wood chips with plans to create a peaceful place surrounded by lush, shade-loving plants where people could sit in peace and compilation or remember and connect with loved ones that have passed on.

"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there." - Ray Bradbury

It's as if some part of him knew.

In lieu of flowers we know that Brandon would love for you to make a donation to your favorite animal rescue.
