Brenda Kaye (Wheeler) DePue - Age 72 of Nashville passed away May 23, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Johnnie and Mary Wheeler. Brenda graduated from East High School in 1963 and loved being involved in the East High community throughout her life. Brenda worked at Hendersonville High School, where her children attended school, and showed love and care for all of those she encountered. She eventually changed careers, retiring from Urology Associates. Brenda was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Brenda spent her life serving the Lord and giving to others. She loved church, dancing, singing, styling people's hair, traveling, shopping, being with friends, Cracker Barrel and has always been super stylish.

Brenda found joy in her children, and most especially, her precious grandson, Will. In 2015, she lost her dear son, Lee, to brain cancer. Although devasted and heartbroken, Brenda walked on. She was always the center and strength of her family, and her bravery through this loss was admirable. Throughout her life, her faith has been reinforced through both hardship and joy. Brenda often talked about how the ocean was the place she felt the closest to God - it was an inspiration for her spirituality. The ocean, both calming and destructive, is a force greater than ourselves that represents the cycle of life. As such, it is perfectly reflective of the greatness of God's over-reaching power. She has spent so much time at the beach with her family over the years. There is no doubt to her friends and family that she is with God today and all those that left this world before her.

Everyone that knew Brenda spoke of her loving spirit and kindness. She taught those around her how to love unconditionally and persevere through all of life's challenges. Friends and family spoke about how she always said, "I love you," and how they truly knew she meant it. In fact, many people noted how they felt God's love through her. She held this verse close to her heart and embodied the meaning of it: We love because He first loved us - 1 John 4:19. She will be truly missed and loved...always.

Survived by her daughters and their spouses, Kimberly DePue and Paul Susce, Kristina DePue and Dustin Layne; daughter in law, Mashae DePue; grandson, William Lee DePue; sisters, Shirley Hubbell and Carolyn Kirby; sister in law, Sharon Wheeler; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

A life celebration will be held at 3pm on Sunday at Hendersonville First Baptist Church with Dr. Bruce Chesser officiating. Burial to follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens. Family and friends to serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 4pm-8pm Saturday at Hendersonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home & 2-3pm Sunday at church.
