Cantrell, Christopher Dyer – age 65 of Hendersonville TN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his brothers on Friday, May 1st, 2026 to reunite with those preceded in death, including his father, Maurice Cantrell, grand-parents, Dyer and Mattie Cantrell, and James and Georgia Hammond.

Surviving members include his immediate family, mother, Suella Hammond Cantrell, brothers Cary (Sherree) Cantrell, Mark Cantrell, Robert (Judy) Cantrell, Alan Cantrell. Extended family members include nephew Logan Cantrell, and nieces Amanda (Drew) Darling, Erin (Steve) Boswell, Maegen Cantrell, McKenzie Cantrell, Cari McCall Cantrell and Carmen Cantrell, as well as numerous great nephews and nieces and aunts and cousins from Cantrell family line and Hammond family line.

Chris was born on August 31st, 1960, at Baptist hospital in Nashville, TN. He would eventually become the middle child of five boys in a seven-year span. His family resided in Hendersonville, TN during the years he attended schooling. He graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1978. He attended Vol State Community college prior to transferring to the University of Tennessee. He left school early and decided to enlist in the US Navy in the early 1980’s.

Chris was adventurous, witty, with a high IQ, and would challenge authority when he felt injustice was in play. He lived much of his later years in Bell Buckle and Murfreesboro at assisted living facilities where he had numerous friends and would be generous with his resources for those in need. Borrowing the title of the song Vince Gill wrote for his brother, the Cantrell brothers also carry that same sentiment for their beloved Son and Brother, “Go rest high on that mountain”.

Visitation, funeral service and interment arrangements will be on Thursday, May 7th at Hendersonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 353 E Main Street, Hendersonville, TN. Visitation will start at 10:30, followed by the funeral service at Noon, and interment at 1:00 p.m.
