Dewayne L. Courtney

Dewayne Lewis Courtney, 79, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Wayne was born on November 3, 1946, in Davidson County, Tennessee to Dugan and Margaret (Green) Courtney.

Wayne was an exceptional woodworker, a Competitive Muzzleloader shooter, gun collector, builder, and played the guitar. He was a devout Christian man and was a church worship leader. Wayne was always available to help those in need and was first to lend a helping hand. Wayne was a devoted husband through years of Barbara’s illness.

Wayne is preceded in death by his wife Barbara and his parents. He is survived by his sons David (Kim) Courtney and Jon (Ann) Courtney, daughter Cyndi (Lewis) Roberts; grandchildren Marie, Abby, Joel, Matthew, Grace, Lewis III (Molly), Shanna (Zach) Thomas; great-grandchildren Sophie, Andrew, Beckett Boyd, Silas, Sullivan, Quinn, and Lennon In addition, he is survived by his brother Ron Courtney, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 4pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 2pm with visitation starting at 12pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens at 3pm.
