Donald "Don" Schlosser

Donald Dean Schlosser, 93, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026. Don was born on May 30, 1933, in Whittier, CA to Earl Davis and Muriel Eloise (Peterson) Schlosser. Don was raised in Long Beach, California and attended Long Beach City College prior to entering the Army during the Korean War. He loved to tell stories of his time growing up in California. He loved the Pacific Ocean, which he declared was the only true ocean, and enjoyed telling stories that included fishing for (and catching) sharks as a 10-year-old, one of which he left on a Los Angeles sidewalk because the bus driver wouldn’t let him and his friend on board with it. He and his dad also witnessed the sole flight of The Spruce Goose in Long Beach Harbor in 1947. He was an accomplished baseball player through high school and into college and the Army deployed him straight to their baseball team. After his discharge from the Army, he went to college and met the love of his life, Flo Jean, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. He played softball up to the age of 55 and only stopped when Flo Jean got tired of washing his torn baseball pants. He also coached local youth baseball and was active in the community. Our family could break out in song at any moment and Don’s voice was one of our loudest. He also loved to make up funny songs that continue to haunt his kids to this day.

Don started his own company, MidSouth Pension Consultants, and was so proud of the people he worked with and the growth of the company prior to his retirement. He was a founding member of and attended St. Michael’s Anglican Church in Gallatin, Tennessee. He was loved by many and was well respected by all who knew him.

Don is preceded in death by his wife, Flo Jean Schlosser, parents, Earl and “Pete” Schlosser, his granddaughter Samantha Strawn, and his nephew Eddie Crow. He is survived by his son Kenny (Kimberly) Schlosser, daughters Katie (Danny) Strawn, and Kerry (William) Henson, his grandsons Jacob Strawn, Joey Henson, Chris Henson, his sister, Anita Holstein, his nephews Bobby Johnston, Gary (Ann) Crow, and his niece, Sheri (Bob) Doran.

A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Hendersonville Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, located at 353 E. Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075.

The family has designated American Legion Post 17 for memorial contributions, 1140 S. Water Ave, Gallatin, TN 37066 or to St. Michael’s Anglican Church, 105 Shiloh Road, Gallatin, TN 37066.
