Donald Ray
Givan
December 19, 1939 – June 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Don Givan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, on June 13, 2026. Born on December 19, 1939, in the quaint town of Old Hickory, Tennessee, Don was the cherished son of Jack and Carrie Givan, who preceded him in death. He spent his childhood years in “the holler” of Long Hollow Pike. His life’s journey was filled with love, laughter, and dedication, leaving a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Don was fortunate to share his life with his devoted wife, Debra. Together, they built a family that became his pride and joy. He is lovingly remembered by sisters Jackie (Wallace) Ralph, and Sarah (Bob) Burris, his children Donald (Gary) Givan Jr, Brian (Traci) Givan, Robbie Drueck, and Jennifer (Tim) Allen. His six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren will forever cherish the warmth and wisdom their Papa imparted to them.
A man of great skill and commitment, Don followed in the footsteps of his father, working at the DuPont plant in Old Hickory, Tennessee, as a talented pipe fitter until his well-deserved retirement. His expertise and dedication to his craft were admired by colleagues and family alike, and he took great pride in knowing he contributed to the legacy of hard work and integrity established by his father.
Don's passion for the outdoors was evident in the countless hours he spent by the water, whether it was a tranquil river, a serene lake, or the comforting embrace of a swimming pool. It was in these moments of nature's beauty that Don found solace and joy, often sharing these experiences with family and friends.
In addition to his love for the outdoors, Don was a master with tools, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. His children fondly recall the countless projects they embarked on together, learning from his patient guidance and creative problem-solving. Don's ability to build and repair was not just a skill but a testament to his generous spirit and his desire to make the world a better place for those he loved.
Though his departure leaves an empty space in our lives, the memories of Don's kindness, laughter, and unwavering support will continue to inspire and comfort us. As we say goodbye to a remarkable man, let us celebrate the legacy of love and strength he has left behind. Don's spirit will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us with the same kindness and steadfastness he shared with all who were fortunate enough to know him.
