Dorothy Douglas

Dorothy Anita Douglas, 91, passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026. Dorothy was born on August 19, 1935, in Nashville, Tennessee to Dudley and Pearl (Felts) Childress.

Dorothy loved to read and crochet. She was known to make baby blankets for each newborn in the family. She graduated from Isaac Litton High School. Dorothy worked for many years with the Department of Safety. She loved her family and was a devoted mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Her love, laughter, and sense of humor will be missed.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Dudley and Pearl Childress along with Felix and Pearl Goodwin (who raised her after her parents’ deaths), her loving husband of 58 years Allen R. Douglas, son in law Jim Richards, sisters Mildred Holmes, Jean Gay, and Lillian Patton, and her brother Charles Childress. She is survived by her daughter Anita Richards, sons Mike Douglas and Kerry Douglas, grandson Sean (April) Douglas, great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Mayo and Blake Douglas. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews along with her devoted chauffeurs Sherry Norris and Patty Gilbreath.

Active pallbearers will be Robert Patton, Phillip Patton, Sean Douglas, Steve Holmes, Blake Douglas, and Kerry Douglas. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Tucker, and Mike Douglas.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 4pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12pm on Friday, October 2, 2026, with visitation beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
