Dorothy Ogden

Dorothy Louise Wright Ogden, age 88, of Gallatin, passed away on December 12, 2025. She was born on November 29, 1937 to the late Bennie and Lillie Wright and grew up alongside her late brother, Edwin Wright, in Menard, Texas. She attended the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, where she learned sign language and played the saxophone. Dorothy was always deeply proud of her Texas roots.

She will be remembered by her family as a strong Christian woman, unwavering in her faith.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Abigail (Ryan) Brown of Gallatin, Tennessee and Samuel (Jenny) Ogden of Spring Hill, Tennessee and by her grandchildren Blake, Kaleb, Noah, Julia, Sophia, and Janey Kate. She is preceded in death by her loving and faithful husband, Jonathan Ogden, and her son, Daniel Ogden.

Dorothy was a lifelong member of the church of Christ. Her steadfast faith shaped every part of her life. The continued faith of her children and grandchildren are part of her legacy. Dorothy and Jonathan met at Camp Wyldewood in Searcy, Arkansas, in 1958 at a Christian deaf camp, and they married in December 26, 1961. They shared a deep love for the Lord. Abigail and Sam fondly remember seeing their parents study the Bible together at night as part of their regular routine.

Dorothy worked in banking and enjoyed many hobbies throughout the years. She loved learning new things and spent time sewing, photography, painting, and investing. Dorothy and Jonathan also shared a love for the outdoors and nature. There are many pictures documenting their love for nature!

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 12:30-2:30 pm with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 pm at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, 353 E Main Street, Hendersonville, TN 37075.
