Doryce "Dee" Farrar

April 1, 1938 — December 29, 2022

Doryce (Dee) Farrar

April 1, 1938 – December 29, 2022

Dee Farrar was born in Seymour, Indiana on April 1st, 1938. Yes, being born on April Fool’s Day, was the source of a bit of fun and there may have been a few Styrofoam birthday “cakes” presented to her from co-workers over the years.

She graduated from Seymour High School in 1956 and then attended Valparaiso University.

Her working career included Fleetguard, Cummins Engine Company, Fairchild Aircraft and SunTrust Bank.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore “Ted” and Irene (Temple) Precht; her son, Robert Brian Linn; sister, Marlene (Don) Armstrong; brother, William Precht; and spouse, Fred Wampler.

Dee is survived by her husband, David Farrar; son, Mark (Beth) Linn; three stepchildren, Eva Dye, Eddie Farrar, and John Farrar; three grandchildren, Alexis Linn, Zachary Linn, Lorelei Steen; seven step grandchildren, Kate Wright, Elizabeth Farrar, Madeline Farrar, Nathaniel Farrar, Ryan Farrar, Benjamin Dye, and Joseph Dye; and six great-grandchildren.

She truly loved travel and adventure. She was fortunate to have, not only traveled around the globe, but to have also lived in a number of interesting locations including Chicago, San Francisco, San Antonio, Tokyo, Manila and Fergus Falls, Minnesota.

Dee was particularly fond of beach locations and certainly enjoyed a good margarita! Even as Alzheimer’s faded her memories, she smiled and chuckled just this week, with the thought of enjoying a cool margarita on warm sunny beach.

Dee was a very creative person and enjoyed sewing, painting and was an avid quilter. One of her quilts won a Blue Ribbon at the Tennessee State Fair.

Working in her garden and tending to her beautiful roses were also a passion.

She loved entertaining, cooking, and experimenting with unique food recipes from around the World.

Dee was a member of First Presbyterian Church Hendersonville. She served in many capacities over the years, in both Lutheran and Presbyterian churches, including a leadership role as an Elder.

Dee loved her family and spending time with them, including her fur-baby Lacey.

She will be truly missed by all.
