William Neal Sams

William Neal Sams, 79, passed Friday, April 5, 2024. Born in Houston, TX, he was a son of the late William Glen and Bennie Cornelia Bammel Sams.

William was a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston, TX, and earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Houston. William was a retired Physicist from Battelle, a global research and development organization, working under the US Department of Energy. He has also previously worked as a physicist for NASA, and as a part-time professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church.

William enjoyed being a pilot and making model airplanes. He also enjoyed studying Biblical Hebrew and could speak fluently.

A graveside service will be held at Hendersonville Memory Gardens in Hendersonville, TN, on April 16, 2024, beginning at 1PM.  A Memorial Service Dr. Sams will be held at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church.

Surviving William are, his loving wife, Darlene Sams; Daughters, Kathleen Sams of Richmond VA, Rebecca Robinson (Wyche) of Richmond, VA; Stepson; Joseph Cline (Joye) of White House, TN; Stepdaughter, Alys Blair (Jamie) of White House, TN; grandchildren, Christopher Flippen, Catherine Flippen, Lucy Robinson, and Mary Alice Robinson; five step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
