Elvie Young

Elvie E. Young, 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.  Elvie was born on July 2, 1936, to Frank and Opal Young in Tompkinsville, Kentucky.

Elvie served his country in the United States Army.  After leaving military service, he became a mechanic at International Truck Dealers working on diesel engines.  In the early 1980’s he opened his own shop, Youngs Truck Service in Gallatin.  Elvie loved spending time with his family.  He married the love of his life Eva (Proffitt) Young on July 8, 1955.  Eva passed away just short of their 68th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2023

He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife Eva. Elvie is survived by his sons Ricky (Christy) Young and Timmy (Bellena) Young.  In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren Ashley (Brandon) Miller, Jessica Reese, Allison Young, Kaylee Young, Rachel (Justin) White, and Austin (Mary) Piercey; great-grandchildren McKinley Deathridge, Hadleigh Reese, Addy White, and Lauryn Piercey.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 4pm-8pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home.  Services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023, beginning at 10am in the Chapel at Hendersonville Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 8am.  Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Don Boze, Dwayne Tucker, Rick Lawing, David Apollos, Bubba Gammon,and Austin Piercey.
