Mary Evalyn "Fluff" Cowan Brown, age 89, passed away on Thursday, July 2nd, 2020. Preceded in death by her parents; Fred Chalmers Cowan and Mary Eleanor Northern Cowan, brothers; Albert, Donald, Chalmers, Hugh and Tom Cowan, sister, Frances Hutnick and daughter-in-law, Melissa Brown. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard Brown of 69 and a half years, son, Doug Brown, daughter, Jan (Mike) Scudder, grandchildren; Mike Scudder, Matt Scudder, Jessica Brown (Peyton) Boshers, Aaron Brown, Alex Brown, great-grandchildren; Ella and Eli Boshers, brother, Doyle (Linda) Brown and sister-in-law, Lyndell Cowan. Evalyn is also survived by many extended family and friends.

Evalyn was born on May 8th, 1931 in Nashville, TN. She was a faithful Christian woman and a devoted member of the Church of Christ all her life. She loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and mind, and had a gentle, loving spirit. She was a loving, faithful wife to Richard, "the love of her life," for over 70 years. They began dating at 15. She taught her whole family what it meant to be a Christian wife, mother, grandmama and great-grandmama. She truly led by example, such a sweet love story.

Evalyn loved swinging everyday with her husband Richard and taking care of her flowers. She was an extremely good seamstress and made beautiful outfits for herself, daughter, grandsons, granddaughter and great-granddaughter. She enjoyed knitting and gave away many wash cloths. Evalyn was a great cook and enjoyed hosting family gatherings, the famous canasta bunch and holiday parties. Family was a priority for Evalyn. She loved playing card games, Wahoo and Uno with her grandchildren. Her gentle spirit and loving heart, along with devotion to her husband and Lord gives her family great comfort. Evalyn will be deeply missed by her family every day until the Lord calls them home forever to be with Him.

A celebration of life service will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home, 353 East Main Street, on Thursday, July 9th at 12:00 PM, Pastors Keith Parker and Brian Sheppard presiding. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 8th from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM an again on Thursday, one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.

Evalyn's son Doug Brown, son-in-law Mike Scudder and grandsons, Mike Scudder, Matt Scudder, Aaron Brown and Alex Brown will serve as pallbearers.

Doyle Brown, Corey Brown, Jason Hopper, Peyton Boshers, Mike Cowan, Jeff Cowan, Jack McMahan and the elders of Hendersonville Church of Christ will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
