Forrest Oakley Williams

January 23, 1940 — September 21, 2025

Forrest Oakley Williams, age 85, of Hendersonville passed away on September 21, 2025. Oakley was born on January 23, 1940 to the late Forrest Kenan Williams and Ann Walters Williams in Columbia, Tennessee. Oakley was a cherished member of the Hendersonville community and will be remembered for his warm spirit and dedication to both family and faith.

A proud veteran of the Air National Guard, Oakley served his country with honor. He was deeply involved in his community, being an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, where he participated in various church activities including the FBCH Backpack Ministry, which provided support to those in need.

Oakley graduated from Haylong High School before furthering his education at Tennessee Tech University. He was also a member of the Civitan Club and enjoyed the camaraderie of the TN Traveling Golfers, blending his love for golf with meaningful friendships.

Oakley's passions extended to traveling, and he found joy in fellowship and activities at church. He touched many lives through his engagements and was liked by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Oakley is preceded in death by his brother, James Hill Williams; his mother in law, Mary Rebecca Pettey; and his father in law, Charles Herbert Pettey.

Oakley is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Charline Pettey Williams; his daughters, Beth Williams Massey and Lori Williams Horn (Tim); his grandchildren, Andrew Horn (Caroline), Anna Horn Alexander (John), Loren Massey, Layne Massey Keef (Collin); and his great grandchildren, Ada Horn, Nora Horn, Oakleigh Keef, and Scottie Keef.

Visitation for Oakley will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 12:00 PM, both taking place at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville, located at 106 Bluegrass Commons Drive, Hendersonville, TN 37075.

As we honor Oakley's life, let us remember his kindness and the love he shared with those around him. He will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Oakley’s honor to St. Jude, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Veterans Organization of your choice.
