Gerald Lee Glover, affectionately known by all as “Papa,” went to be with Jesus on April 8, 2026, at the age of 95. A longtime resident of Hendersonville, TN, Gerald leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a faith in God.

Born on March 12, 1931, in Chestnut Mound, Tennessee, Gerald was the youngest of 8 children. His life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Mattie Lee Lewis. The two were wed on July 13, 1952, beginning a beautiful journey of 54 years together. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Nashville to build their future and raise their daughter, Diana.

Gerald was a man of quiet strength and reliability. He dedicated 38 years of service to Nashville Electric Service, where he served as a Foreman. His work ethic was extraordinary and allowed him to enjoy his well-earned retirement—which, remarkably, lasted just as long as his career.

Gerald found his greatest joy in the world around him. Whether he was sitting on his patio watching hummingbirds, enjoying his boat on the lake with his family, or playing a game of cards, he lived every moment with intention. He was active well into his 90s; one of his favorite pastimes was tending to his lawn, and he could still be found on his riding mower at the age of 93.

Above all, Gerald was a man of deep conviction. He taught his family the vital importance of serving God and caring for others. His stories of "the good old days" and his love for his family will be deeply missed.

Gerald is survived by his daughter, Diana Lynn DeRossett (Dale); grandchildren, Amber Carneal (Patrick), Chad DeRossett (Lindsey); great grandchildren: Anna Brynn Carneal, Adelyn Carneal, Caroline Carneal, Paisley DeRossett, Piper DeRossett, and Paxton DeRossett. He also leaves behind his sister, Mary Gladys Huff.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mattie Lee Glover; parents, Luther Dowell Glover and Frances Lester Glover; siblings, Lassie May (Glover) Winfree, James Willie Glover, Luther Ernest Glover, Lorell Glover Gentry, Raeburn Bridges Glover, and Bonnell Thomas Glover.
