Gilbert Ortiz III passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 64. Born on August 28, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Gilbert will be remembered with deep love by all who knew him.

Gilbert served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army, a role that reflected his strength, dedication, and sense of duty. He was also a proud business owner, owning GLO Distribution Company for 21 years. Through his work and service, he built a life marked by commitment and perseverance.

Beyond his accomplishments, Gilbert found his greatest joy in the people he loved most. He enjoyed traveling with his family, especially making memories together in the mountains of Gatlinburg and at Walt Disney World. He loved watching football, and nothing meant more to him than spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them. Of all the roles he held in life, his favorite title was “Papa,” a name that brought him tremendous pride and happiness.

Gilbert is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa Ortiz, and by their children and spouses: Eric Ortiz and Chelsea Ortiz, Jessica Barto and Matt Barto, Katelin George and Michael George, Brett Ortiz and Bryan Barto. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Kaydyn Barto, Anah Barto, Rylan Ortiz, Gabriel Ortiz, Kenlee Ortiz, Sophia Johnson, Dax Ortiz, Jett Ortiz, Myles George, and Maisie George. He is also survived by his mother, Lavergne Chavez; his sisters, Priscilla Guel and Patricia Bueno; and his brother, Julian Ortiz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gilbert Ortiz II.

Gilbert’s life was centered on family, service, and the simple joys of being together. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and treasured memories that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends always.
