Gloria Moses

Gloria Moses, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, family member, and friend, passed away on July 29, 2026. She was born on July 11, 1946, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Allan and Lela Tinnon.

With heavy hearts, her family announces the passing of a woman whose love, kindness, strength, and generous spirit touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Gloria was extraordinary, mystifying, admirable, cherished, treasured, and precious. She was beautiful both inside and out and served as the beloved matriarch of her family. Crystal lovingly described her by saying, “A woman like her is as rare as a snowflake on an August day in Nashville.”

As the oldest of four siblings, Gloria naturally stepped into the role of protector and caregiver. She set an example of strength, compassion, resilience, and unwavering love throughout her life. Through every difficult season, hardship, and challenge, Gloria had a remarkable ability to create something out of nothing. She dedicated her life to caring for and supporting her family, always finding a way to provide comfort, encouragement, and love.

Gloria was a devoted wife to Roy Moses for fifty-one years. She cherished their marriage and helped build a home filled with love, laughter, warmth, and countless treasured memories. As the proud mother of five children, grandmother of six, and great-grandmother of two, she blessed each member of her family with unconditional love, guidance, support, and a presence that will never be forgotten.

A wonderful homemaker, Gloria turned her house into a welcoming home filled with smiles, warmth, and open arms. She had an incredible gift for cooking and could create a delicious meal from almost nothing. Her meals had a special way of making strangers feel like family and friends feel like brothers and sisters. Cooking was truly her niche, and every dish was made with love.

Gloria especially enjoyed holidays and family picnics, where her cooking could shine like fireworks on the Fourth of July. Her turkey dressing, chicken and dumplings, unforgettable macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, cornbread, coconut cakes, sweet tea, and coffee were cherished by all who gathered around her table. Those fortunate enough to enjoy her cooking knew that the love she poured into every meal was what made it so special.

When she was not caring for the people she loved, Gloria enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking trips to Tunica, and trying her luck at the casino. She knew when to hold back and when to let loose, and she brought laughter, joy, and friendly competition wherever she went. She loved traveling through the mountains and vacationing at the beach, creating precious memories with those closest to her.

Gloria enjoyed the music of the Bee Gees and Alan Jackson and had a special admiration for the timeless glamour of Marilyn Monroe and the charismatic spirit and music of Elvis Presley. These artists brought her joy and reflected her appreciation for music, style, and life’s simple pleasures.

In addition to her parents, Allan and Lela Tinnon, Gloria is preceded in death by her daughter, Robbie Lela Watts; her grandchildren, Frankie Thomas and Aliza Hope Smotherman; and her siblings. Wayne Tinnon and Pam Tinnon.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Roy Moses; her children, Melissa Watts, Donnie Watts, Tessa Moses, and Crystal Brewer; her grandchildren, Devon Crisman, Troy Lee Moses, Johnathan Brewer, and Brookyln Brewer; her great grandchildren, Leela Crisman and August Thomas; and her sister, Donna Tinnon.

Gloria’s legacy will live on through the love she shared, the traditions she created, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her unforgettable presence will remain forever in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

May she rest in eternal peace surrounded by the love and light she freely gave throughout her life journey.

Visitation for Gloria will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main St., Hendersonville, TN 37075). The funeral service will begin at 2 pm at the same location with burial to follow.
