Jackie Pennington

August 29, 1946 — July 25, 2025

Jacqueline Hollis Pennington was born on August 29, 1946 in Nashville, Tennessee to Jack Bud Hollis and Melbaline Argie Ladd Hollis. Her family called her “Jackie” for short, she was the baby of the family for the first ten years until her little sister, Nancy. Jackie was the fourth of five children. She graduated from Isaac Litton High School where she would meet the “Love of Her Life” Larry Wilson Pennington. After graduating from high school in the summer of 1965 Jackie & Larry were married that same year on November 12, 1965. As a young couple during difficult times in Nashville it took a few years for Jackie and Larry to find their path. In 1969 Jackie began her career in the world of insurance where she would spend more than twenty-five years in the industry, Larry became a police officer for the Nashville Metropolitan Police Department and they had their first child, Larry Wilson Pennington, Jr. Almost three years later to the date they had their second son Joe Allen Pennington.

Jackie and Larry were good hard working parents. Being raised in the South, in an area known as the Bible Belt, they each had an awareness of God and were raised with religion in their lives. In the fall of 1977 their lives were forever changed when Larry & Jackie were introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They were baptized on November 6th 1977 and one later year they were sealed together as a family in the Washington DC Temple.

Jackie and Larry found their true calling in The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where they would serve faithfully for over 45 years, including serving in the Nashville Tennessee Temple for almost 10 years. Jackie served in numerous other callings over the years, but she found particular joy in serving the children of the Primary.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Melbaline Hollis, her brother Wayne Hollis and her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Larry Pennington. She is survived by her son Larry W. Pennington, Jr. (Maribel), son Joe A. Pennington (Dina); grandchildren Bailey Lang Harrison (Kevin), Larry W. Pennington, III, Jacqueline Taylor Marshall (Harrison), Logan William Pennington (Kyla), Eric Pennington, Abby Elizabeth Beauregard (Conner), Lincoln Wesley Pennington, Ryver Joe Pennington, Royce Baker (Patricia), Rayden Baker, Sabrina Nino, Elvin Gallisa Lozada, Kevin Gallisa Lozada; Great-Grandchildren Taelynn, Karson, Millie, McCoy, Tatum, Eleanor, Azalea, Macie, Knox, Kayzee, Dawson, Kaliastrid and Katherine; sister Deanna Lynn, brother Georges Noel (Nicole Phillippe), sister Nancy Hutson (Gary), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
