James Nicholas Hadley, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026. Affectionately known as Jim, he was born on May 18, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Albert Hadley and Dorthea Frillman Shearer. He is a graduate of Purcell Marian High School and continued his education earning a bachelor’s degree at the University of Cincinnati.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Charlene Gunkel Hadley, whom he loved deeply and cherished throughout their life together.

He is survived by his loving children, Chris Hadley (Vicky) and Lori Hemmelgarn (Mike); his sister, Diana Wittman; and his cherished grandchildren, Conner Hadley, Charles Hadley, Carly Hadley, Ellie Hemmelgarn, Ethan Hemmelgarn, Audrey Hemmelgarn, Jake Hemmelgarn, and Zack Hemmelgarn. His family was the center of his life, and he took great pride in each of them.

Jim enjoyed a successful career as the owner and operator of a Chevrolet, Cadillac, and Oldsmobile dealership in Madison, Indiana. Known affectionately as “Hurricane Hadley,” he built a reputation as an exceptional salesman, once setting a remarkable record by selling 60½ cars in a single month. His passion for automobiles, especially Corvettes, was well known to all who knew him.

A man of deep faith, Jim was an active and dedicated member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church. He participated in numerous mission trips and faithfully served through his involvement with the Gideons and prison outreach programs, touching many lives with his generosity, compassion, and commitment to sharing his faith.

Jim lived life with energy and joy. He was known for his kind heart, fun-spirited nature, and theatrical personality that brought laughter and warmth to those around him. He loved traveling, playing golf, spending time at local country clubs, and staying active at the YMCA. Jim was also a dedicated member of the local Rotary Club and Toastmasters. A loyal sports fan, he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams, the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds.

Jim Hadley will be remembered for his vibrant personality, strong work ethic, unwavering faith, and the love he shared so freely with family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. 

The family has decided to honor Jim with private services at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
