James Louis Horton- age 93 went to be with the Lord on December 5, 2014. He was a WWII Veteran who served our country proudly in the Navy. Recently he was recognized as one of the last survivors of the USS Denver. James was a man of faith and he was a longtime member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing. He will forever be remembered for his kind soul and for being a loving father.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ola Ann Horton; daughter, Patricia Miles and son, Paul Wayne Horton.
He is survived by sons, B.C. (Sandra) Horton, Louis E. Horton, and Mark (Regina) Horton; daughters, Dorothy (Mark) Crabtree, Linda (Granville) Chapman, Reba (Bruce) Nagel and Nancy (Willie) Vaughn; daughter-in-law, Cindy Horton; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren;
A Funeral Service will be conducted in the Chapel of Hendersonville Funeral Home on Tuesday at 1p.m. with Elder Cary Kemp and Elder Mark Horton officiating. Interment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens with grandsons, Jamie Horton, Adam Chapman, Bill Vaughn, Robert Crabtree, Michael Horton, Andrew Horton, Timothy Horton and Jonathon Horton serving as pallbearers.
