James Joseph McDowell II, "JJ", age 79, of Alexandria, TN, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017. Preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy & Frankie McDowell and grandson, Tristan Cooper McDowell. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Patty Anne Ruck McDowell, children: Jim McDowell III (Melinda), Lisa Boyd (Kevin), Janice McDowell and Steven McDowell (Diana), 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, sister, Margo Porter (Charlie) and loving nephews: Clay and Billy Porter. Jim is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

Jim was born June 24, 1938 in Nashville, TN. He was a proud United States Army veteran and a retiree from the Ford Glass Plant. Jim enjoyed farm life, friends and family.

A Celebration of Life service for Jim will be held at 12:30pm on Tuesday, November 21 at Hendersonville Funeral Home, officiated by Pastors Tim Roberts and Duane Harris. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Interment with military honors will follow the service.

Pallbearers will include: Steve McDowell, Kevin Boyd, Shane Ownby, Clay Porter, Billy Porter, and Harley Stearns.
