Dr. Jan Milton Hausmann

Dr. Jan Milton Hausmann, age 81, of Hendersonville, TN entered heaven on November 23, 2025. Dr. Hausmann is survived by his loving wife, Tanya, along with his three children and their families: Dr. James Hausmann and his wife Tammy of Germantown, TN and their daughters Anna, Alyssa, and Amellia; Nina Massey and her husband Troy of Brentwood, TN and their children Kaela and Cole; and Emily Hill and husband Thaddaeus of Remsenburg, NY and their children Elliana, TJ, and Emilia; his brother, Gene Martin Hausmann and his wife Renee of San Antonio, TX and sons, Rex and Erik; and his sister, Elizabeth Baldwin of Virginia and her son, Perry. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Barbara Faules Tanner.

Dr. Hausmann was born in Austin, Texas to the late Ruth Deveny Hornbuckle and Milton Friedrich Hausmann on February 8, 1944. Dr. Hausmann spent his early years traveling and living in various locations as a military dependent. He graduated from Harding College (now Harding University) and entered the University of Tennessee receiving his Master’s Degree in Physiology in 1968. He continued at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in Memphis, graduating with his medical degree in 1971 and completing his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine in 1974.

Dr. Hausmann began his medical career serving as an Internist in the United States Air Force at Little Rock Air Force Base where he was promoted from Captain to Major. It was here also that he earned his pilot license. His career included a combination of private practice, administrative medicine, and hospital medicine. He was a Diplomat with the American Board of Internal Medicine, member of the American College of Physicians, American College of Physician Executives, Society of Hospital Medicine and Tennessee Medical Association.

Dr. Hausmann’s faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior was his guiding force in everything he did. He loved his family and cherished the title of “Opa” as a grandfather. He had a great enjoyment of photography, stamp collecting, and the study of genealogy. He deeply loved his roots in Texas. Like his father, Milton Hausmann, Jan loved music, played the flute, and had a dream of being an orchestra leader/band director. Like his father, he had a smile that would brighten a room, loved to whistle, and exhibited a fun-loving and cheerful spirit.

A Life Celebration will be conducted in the chapel of Hendersonville Memory Gardens, 353 East Main Street, Hendersonville, Tennessee on January 2, 2026, with Ray Cleek officiating. Visitation with family will begin at 12 noon on Friday with the Celebration of Life and Military Funeral Ceremony beginning at 2pm. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
