Jeanne Evelyn Coyle, affectionately known to her family as “MomMom”, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026. She was born on March 5, 1928, to Frank Eugene Carney and Irene May Fellows Carney in New York, New York.
Jeanne was born in NYC. After marrying Dan Coyle in 1950 and moving to several different places, they moved to Wilmington, DE and lived there for many years, eventually moving to Hendersonville, TN in 1977. After 41 years of marriage, six children and many grandchildren Dan died in 1991. Currently there are 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
Jeanne loved God, the Bible, and her Catholic Church. She loved to share about the Lord to any and all. She was active in her church, the Charismatic Renewal, and her community. She taught Bible Studies, led prayer groups, took teens to youth conferences, took people who were in need in the community into her home. She was the first president of the Women's Aglow of Nashville, an international, interdenominational organization.
Jeanne went to modeling school and art school. She had an eye for fashion, she sewed clothes and quilts, she upholstered, painted, knitted, crocheted, and did pottery. She taught classes on how to make hats and gave fashion shows featuring her creations. She was known in Wilmington as the "Hat Lady". She loved to garden and had flowers and plants both indoors and outdoors. Jeanne was an avid reader and lifelong learner always sharing what she had learned.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Maureen Renee Wright (John), Dan Coyle (Sue), Mike Coyle (Diane), Sharon Cook (Bob), and Brian Coyle (Mary). She is also survived by her sister, Fran Busch, and daughter-in-law Debi Coyle.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her loving husband Dan Coyle, beloved son Kevin Coyle, brother Don Carney, and grandchildren Daniel Coyle and James Cook.
The family will receive friends at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 10:30am until the time of the funeral mass as 11:30am. A private interment with the family will be later that afternoon at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
