Jemal Akhmedov

Jemal Akhmedov, 93, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away in his Hendersonville home on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, battling several chronic and acute illnesses.

Jemal was born in Dmanisi, in the country of Georgia. He was the second of four children and had an older brother and a younger brother and one baby sister. Upon high school graduation Jemal went into mandatory service for the Soviet army and was stationed in Moldova from 1952 to 1955. In the army he was trained as a tank commander, and his tank number was 15.

Upon completing his mandatory army service, Jemal began his studies at Georgia State Technological University in Tbilisi, Georgia. After graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Jemal began his career at the Rustavi chemical factory, Azot. There he met a beautiful young intern, Natela, who later became his wife. Jemal and Natela were married in 1964 and were inseparable for 62 years of fairytale-like life together, reminding many of a famous novel, Ali and Nino, written in the 1930s.

The last 15 years of his career Jemal served as the Vice President of the chemical corporation, Tetroni, which produced many household chemical brands that became household names in Georgia and surrounding regions. Jemal was extremely well-liked by his coworkers with whom he stayed in touch all his life.

Jemal's hobbies were cars (he always had one or two cars, which was unusual in the Soviet Union) and building and fixing things. He built from scratch a beautiful, spacious house for his in-laws in the village of Siktarva, Georgia. The quality of this building and stories associated with sourcing building materials from all across the Soviet Union were the subject of his many conversations with friends and family.

In 2005 Jemal and Natela were able to move to the United States of America to be closer to their grandchildren and to be a meaningful part of their lives. He deeply appreciated the freedoms and opportunities he gained in America. Jemal was able to purchase a beautiful house in Hendersonville, Tennessee where he enjoyed growing cucumbers and tomatoes.

In 1990s Jemal has accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized at Hillsboro Church of Christ by his friend Ron Dixon.

In addition to his wife Natela, Jemal is survived by his daughters Katy (Sergei) Belov and Maya (Curt) Griggs. Jemal has five grandkids: James, Nick and Alex Belov and Cordell and Nina Griggs.
