Mr. James "JJ" Leon Johns, age 79, of Hendersonville, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Skyline Medical Center. Born April 2, 1942, in Sewanee, TN, he was a decorated U. S. Army Special Forces veteran.
After the war, he worked for Cummins, Tycon, Reemay and Berry Global, where he retired in 2018. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and a member of the NRA and American Legion.

The family will receive friends at Hendersonville Memory Gardens on Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Visitation will begin at 5:00PM with Military Honors and a Celebration of Life taking place at 6:00PM.
He is survived by his brother, William Johns; niece and nephews: Wendy (Ben) Bryner of Hendersonville, TN; Toby (Karen) Locke of Liberty Township, OH and Mitchell Johns of Las Vegas, NV; and the lights of his life, great nieces Keeley Locke & Finley Grace Bryner and great nephew Andrew James Bryner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Ruth Johns. In lieu of flowers we ask that memorial contributions be made to Cumberland Heights and Lucky Farms Animal Rescue of Gallatin.
