Jo Ellyn Bryan

Jo Ellyn (Goshorn) Bryan, 78, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025. Jo was born October 17, 1946, in Fairmont, MN, daughter of the late Alva and Catherine Frances (Jennings) Goshorn.

After graduating high school, Jo went on to earn a scholarship and receive her nursing degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, MN (Mayo Clinic). She greatly enjoyed her 45-year career as a nurse. Throughout her career, she worked mainly in private practice, urgent care, and cardiology. On July 6, 1968, Jo was united in marriage to her loving husband of 50 years, Thomas Edward Bryan.

In her free time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, and vacationing. Jo’s family could always rely on her to be supportive, even tempered, and fair. She loved to have a “Plan for the day” and usually had to fill the rest of us in on what it was.

Jo is survived by her daughter Lisa (Paul) Ebbert and son Thomas (Tara) Bryan; her grandchildren, Jack, Bryce, Ashley; and her sister, Julie (Harvey) Hyatt. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Catherine; her husband, Thomas Bryan; her brother, John; and sisters, Jean, Joyce, and Janice.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Hendersonville, TN at a later date.
