Jose A. “Tony” Figueroa, passed away on July 18, 2026. Tony was born on October 21, 1944, in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, to the late Ventura and Maria Figueroa.

Tony graduated from Belle Glade High School in Florida and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968, achieving the rank of Specialist 5. During his military service, Tony served as a crew chief on CH-47 Chinook helicopters and spent 18 months in Vietnam with the 178th Assault Support Helicopter Company.

Following his military service, Tony began a distinguished career with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. During his 33 and a half years of service, he began as a Deputy Sheriff on road patrol and ultimately retired in 2003 as a Major responsible for all road patrol operations in the largest county by land area in Florida.

Tony was a man who loved staying busy and working with his hands. He enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and creating things. An avid bodybuilder in his youth, Tony remained active and always on the move until dementia eventually took away his ability to walk. He loved baseball, whether coaching his children or watching the Atlanta Braves. Tony also had a deep love for music, was known for his always-reliable dad jokes, and could entertain his family with his uncanny Donald Duck voice.

Some of the family's most cherished memories include summer afternoons spent together in the pool, road trips throughout the Southeast, and the many creations born from Tony's engineering mind, including homemade bunk beds, workbenches, and a play fort. His family will also always remember the joy he found in coaching his boys in baseball.

Tony was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville. He was also a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia. They shared 44 years of marriage until her passing on July 18, 2025—exactly one year to the day before Tony's passing.

Tony is survived by his children, Denise Caputo (Gregg), Timothy Figueroa (Adrienne), and Christopher Figueroa (Jessica); his grandchildren, Bryce Caputo, Ashley Caputo, Niko Figueroa, Matty Figueroa, and Michael Figueroa; and his siblings, Faustino Figueroa (Sondra) and Alfredo Figueroa (Lupe).
