Joseph (Joe) Monte, 89, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, at The Harmony at Bellevue in Nashville, TN. He was born in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Sam and Mary Monte. Preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Catherine Monte of 55 years, and his granddaughter, Isabella Catherine Monte.
He is survived by his brother, Sam (Cathy) Monte, his son, Christopher (Emanuelle) Monte, his grandson Gabriel Monte, his daughter Denise (Wayne) Hamm, his granddaughter Madilyn Hamm and his grandson Jason Hamm.
Joe was a founding member of the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, TN and worked at the Old Hickory DuPont and Reemay plants for more than 35 years. He loved life, loved to “cut a rug” on the dance floor with his wife Catherine, loved spending time with his family, especially swimming with the grandkids at the Y, played a mean game of bocce ball at the family reunions, and always enjoyed food, especially a big plate of pasta or any of the wonderful meals prepared by his wife Catherine. He loved to play softball and tennis and cheer on the athletic teams from his alma mater, Auburn University (formerly Alabama Polytechnical Institute). He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
A very special thank you to the wonderful care teams at Harmony at Bellevue and Gentiva Hospice for all of their compassionate care and comfort provided to Joe Monte. We thank you for sharing your many talents and God-given gifts with Joe Monte and his entire family.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 11 AM to Noon at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church (1729 Stop 30 Road, Hendersonville, TN, 37075), followed by a funeral service starting at Noon at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Hendersonville Funeral Home and Memory Gardens.
