Leonard Ray Tucker, Sr.

Leonard Ray Tucker, Sr., known to his friends and family as Ray, 79, of Hendersonville, Tennessee died Saturday, April 19, 2025. Ray was born October 19, 1945. He grew up in Centerville, Tennessee, a son of the late Alton and Minnie Tucker. Ray, his brothers and sister grew up on a farm by the Duck River.

Ray married Patricia Hope Finchum in 1967. Ray and Pat raised their family in Hendersonville. Ray was employed for 33 years by DuPont de Nemours, Inc. which used his management talents in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Some of Ray’s interests included reading novels, watching college football and basketball, gardening, and travel. From childhood, fishing was his primary hobby – offering quiet reflection, tournament wins, and time with his good friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Dallas Tucker, and Minnie Lee Johnson Tucker; four brothers, Charles Tucker, Alton Tucker, Jr., James B. Tucker, Frank Tucker; and one sister, Betty Crews.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Pat Tucker; daughter, Patty Shipley of Columbus, Ohio; son, Ray (Susie) Tucker, Jr. of Hermitage, Tennessee; and daughter, Lea (Thomas) Cook of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two brothers, Kenneth Tucker of Nashville, Tennessee, and Jimmy D. Tucker of Old Hickory, Tennessee; three grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.

Mr. Tucker will be buried alongside his family in a private ceremony in Centerville, TN at a later date. The family requests that donations be made to the American Brain Foundation or Saint Jude. No flowers, please.
