Lynda Faye Ryan May 12, 1943 – August 8, 2025
Lynda Faye Ryan, 82, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, a devoted servant of the Lord, entered her heavenly home on August 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on May 12, 1943, to Sidney and Dorothy King, Lynda grew up in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, where she graduated from Goodlettsville High School and was a proud member of the debate team. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Tennessee Tech University in 1965, graduating magna cum laude.
Lynda dedicated her career to serving others, working in state social work for the State of Tennessee. Her life’s work reflected her heart for people and her desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
Above all, Lynda devoted her life to serving the Lord. As a faithful member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville, she had a deep passion for missions—impacting youth both nationally and abroad—and was a dedicated Vacation Bible School teacher. As a past member of Bluegrass Baptist Church, she was pivotal in building a vibrant youth ministry for teen girls, pouring her time, energy, and faith into helping them grow spiritually. Her commitment to ministry extended to leadership roles in the state and Nashville Woman’s Missionary Union and the Tennessee Baptist Foundation.
Lynda’s personal passions included cooking, sewing, gardening, and holiday decorating. She especially loved sharing her talent for cooking, which inspired her to own and operate a gourmet kitchen store for several years. She found joy in creating beauty and warmth in her home and sharing it with others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Dorothy King, and her sister, Jeanne King.
Lynda is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Michael Ryan; her sister Sherri (Don) and brother Mike (Kim); her children Richard (Steven), Todd (Michelle), and Jennifer (Brandon); her grandchildren Karissa (Dallas), Dalton, Camden, Sydney, Rylan, Ashlynne, and Kynsleigh; and her great-grandchildren Brody and Braxton. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, followed by a celebration of Lynda’s life from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial services will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens for family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lynda’s name to Begin Anew of Middle Tennessee at www.beginanew.org or mailed to P.O. Box 682134, Franklin, TN 37068.
