It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Mary Kay Cloud West, on July 16th, at the age of 69. She entered the gates of heaven surrounded by her children.
Born on December 7th, 1956, in Louisville, Kentucky, Mary Kay was the 3rd child to Mary Jane Brewer Cloud Lannum and John Arthur Cloud Jr. She grew up in Danville, Kentucky and graduated from Boyle Country High School in 1974. She went on to graduate from Western Kentucky University as a Dental Hygienist.
She had two children, Lauren and Hunter and spent their entire childhood years as a stay at home mom that was constantly volunteering. It would be impossible to list all of the countless places she volunteered at, but some notable things were the St. Joseph and Pope John Paul II High School Galas, Moms in Touch, Moms Plus, Divorce Care, Freshstart Resources, Room Mother, Marian Conferences, Crisis Pregnancy Center, weekly Rosary organization, and many many more. She was always involved in some way with her church and her children’s schools. She was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Church.
As her children grew up and moved out of the house, Mary Kay became a daily communicate at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. She set her schedule around what time mass was each day. She had a daily rosary group on Monday nights and participated in Eucharistic Adoration at least once a week. She was the foundation of her family, providing love, wisdom and comfort to all who knew her.
In the past 11 years her favorite thing besides mass was becoming a grandmother to her 5 grandchildren. There was hardly any sporting event, recital, vacation, holiday that she missed. She loved her family with all she had and showed them at every moment how special they were to her.
She is survived by her children, Lauren Anderson (Patrick) and Hunter West (Sarah), Grandchildren, Asher, Lilia, Henry, Ava, and Clare, her brothers, Denis Cloud (Sarah), John Arthur Cloud ( Susan), David Cloud ( Carol), Keith Cloud ( Cathy), many nieces, nephews, and so many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Cloud.
On Saturday, August 1st a First Saturday devotional rosary will be held from 9:15-10 with visitation from 10-11 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM with a reception following.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church or Crisis Pregnancy Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
