Monika Elfrieda Manning, born on February 28, 1952, in Nuremberg, Germany, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee. Monika’s life was one marked by kindness, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of language and nature.
Monika attended college in Nuremberg where she dedicated her studies to linguistics, a passion that would lead her to become fluent in four languages: English, Spanish, French, and her native German. Her remarkable linguistic skills not only enriched her life but also allowed her to connect with many people around the world, sharing stories, experiences, and a love for diverse cultures.
In her personal life, Monika was known for her reserved yet warm-hearted disposition. She often delighted those around her with her laughter. Beyond her linguistic talents, she found joy in gardening, reading, and knitting, nurturing plants, animals, and friendships with the same care and dedication she applied to her interests. She was a proud member of the 100 Plus Club, a testament to her dedicated ties within her community.
Monika is preceded in death by her parents, Andreas Anton Werner and Elfrieda Emma Werner. Her memory will be cherished by her son, Santana Manning, and her granddaughter, Bella Manning.
Monika’s final resting place will be at Hendersonville Memory Gardens, Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee. An interment service is scheduled for April 26, 2025, starting at 3:00 PM. Family, friends, and all who were touched by her gentle spirit are invited to remember her life and the joys she brought to those around her.
