Paula Anne Kennedy, 88, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026. Paula was born on May 21, 1937, to Paul Richard and Mary Catherine (Ryan) Kennedy in Schenectady, New York.
Paula was a loving sister, aunt, and cousin. As a child, she was athletic, congenial, and determined. Paula wholeheartedly believed “if you want it, go ahead and earn it.” She graduated from St. Columba High School in Schenectady, New York with an emphasis in business and vocational training. She entered the work force in secretarial positions in small businesses in her hometown after graduation and eventually transitioned into a secretarial role at General Electric’s main plant in Schenectady. Here, she advanced her career and became a personal secretary for a department manager. She also joined the ski club and became a skilled, amateur skier. Eventually, she pursued and attained a position as a consultant for the small steam turbine department. She was transferred to Nashville when GE’s main plant in Schenectady was downsized.
Paula embraced her new environment and everything it offered. She continued her career and created social circles in the Nashville area. Paula loved her independence and had an eclectic mix of interests in her adult life. She loved music and singing, took up line dancing and clogging, and read books on all subjects. She loved the idea of working hard and establishing her own life, her way. Paula finished her career as a sales consultant with Lifeway. Her pursuits in all aspects of life brought a diverse group of friends into her circle. She was involved in parish activities at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Hendersonville until she went into assisted living. Even in her final years at White House Healthcare, she was voted Miss Congeniality and was a favorite among the medical staff. Her love and laughter will be missed.
Paula is preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Betty, Matt, Mary Jane, Paul Richie, and Cathy. She is survived by her sister, Patty Mack of New York, and brother Bill(y) Kennedy of South Carolina, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hendersonville Memory Gardens.
