Pauline Verlee (Stoughton) Krebs, 91, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Pauline was born on November 22, 1934, in Butler County, Pennsylvania to Paul and Verda (Blakeley) Stoughton.
Pauline spent the first 13 years of her life on the Stoughton Dairy Farm operated by her grandfather Lester Stoughton (a progressive dairy farmer). Her father Paul Stoughton worked on the farm as the processor for the milk produced by approximately 200 heads of cattle. Pauline had many childhood memories of growing up on the farm from riding the tractor with her grandfather, taking care of her pony “Bill” riding him every day, to sharing a bedroom with her sister and brother even while they had the measles. Pauline and her family moved to Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania when her father purchased 35 acres and set up a new processing plant. It was a challenging move as a new home had to built along with a processing plant. Fortunately, her great uncle was a master carpenter and built a first-floor dairy processing plant with a second-floor apartment that served as living quarters. As the business grew, Pauline would help deliver milk on the route before school with her dad.
Pauline graduated from Butler High School in 1952. After graduating from high school, Pauline attended nursing school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After nursing school, Pauline began her nursing career in labor and delivery working with Dr. Chester Beall.
In June of 1957, Pauline married the love of her life Giles Krebs in a small Presbyterian Church in Connoquenessing, Pennsylvania. After Giles finished his training program with Pittsburgh Steel Company, the family moved with their 4-month-old daughter Stacy to Houston, Texas. After a few months, the move to Tulsa, Oklahoma happened and that’s where Brian was born. Other moves followed, Dallas, Texas and then to Cincinnati, Ohio where Joel and Ames were born. After Cincinnati, the family moved to Bloomfield, Michigan finally settling in Nashville, Tennessee.
Pauline is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Verda Stoughton, and her husband Giles. She is survived by her daughter Stacy Reynolds(Jeffrey Reynolds), and her sons Brian Krebs(Yancey Krebs), Joel Krebs, and Ames Krebs(Sherrin Krebs). Grandchildren Lauren Poole, Houston Poole(Paige Poole), McKenna Krebs, McKenzie Suell(Zach Suell), Liam Krebs(Ashley Krebs), Orrin Krebs, Beck Krebs, Amy Krebs, and Great Granddaughter Hattie Mae Poole.
