Phillip Brian Cook, Sr., age 76, of Gallatin, Tennessee, passed away on May 2, 2026.
Phil was born on March 11, 1950, in Shelbyville, Tennessee, to James Marvin Cook and Goldalea Taylor Cook. He was a 1968 graduate of Shelbyville Central High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1972. As a young man, Phil achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction that reflected the character, discipline, and leadership he carried throughout his life.
Phil made a successful career as an Independent Apparel Sales Representative, where he was known for his loyalty, integrity, and strong work ethic. He built lasting professional relationships and took great pride in his work, providing well for his family.
A lifelong lover of music, Phil played in rock bands during his high school and college years and remained passionate about music throughout his life. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, where he developed friendships that spanned decades. He also enjoyed classic cars and the joy they brought him.
Above all, Phil’s life was defined by his deep devotion to his family.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Marianne Cook; his sons, Phillip “Brian” Cook (Haden Wiley Cook) and Clayton Taylor Cook (Kelly Postiglione Cook); and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia Taylor Cook, Charles Fisher Cook, David Wiley Cook, Brooklyn Grace Weatherford, and Clayton Patrick Cook.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Goldalea Taylor Cook and James Marvin Cook; his sister, Judy Davis, and her husband, Calvin Davis; and his twin brothers, James Daniel Cook and Cass David Cook.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 15, 2026, at Hendersonville First United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church Respite Program or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Shareka Bills of Preferred Care at Home and the dedicated staff at Charter Senior Living in Gallatin, Tennessee, for the exceptional care, professionalism, and compassion shown to Phil and his family throughout the final years of his Parkinson’s journey.
