In the early hours of December 16, 2020, Regis Ramon Toar Tinsley was called home to heaven at the age of 74. Not only was Mr. Tinsley adored by his family, but he was also known and loved by his community as a 40-year-long resident of Hendersonville.
Regis was born on March 15, 1946 in Richlands, Virginia, and spent his early years in Whitesville, West Virginia. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served for twenty years and retired as Master Sergeant. During his tremendous military career, he did two tours in Vietnam, spent a year in Japan, and spent three years in Puerto Rico. Notably, Regis was among the first MOS recruiters for the all-volunteer service. In this role, he aided countless marines in their enlistment and was awarded two Navy Commendation Metals for his incredible recruiting accomplishments.
While home on leave in Charleston, West Virginia, Regis met his beautiful bride, Linda, at a drive-in diner. They married five days later and were married for 53 years. Upon his retirement from the Marines, Regis decided to join Linda in the real estate arena. The two were a dynamic-duo as he held a successful thirty-year career in the field. They were members of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville and were part of Ed Bradley's Sunday School class.
Regis, a republican, was very involved in republican politics and held an ardent respect for public service. He also coached many years of girls' slow pitch softball with the Hendersonville parks. He was an avid Vanderbilt basketball fan and enjoyed many trips to Gatlinburg with his family.
He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Melissa Ramona Tinsley, son Luke Allen Tinsley, grandsons Logan Ragland, Robert Ragland, Justin Ragland, and a three-year-old great granddaughter, Aurora Ragland, who was the apple of his eye. He is proceeded in death by his father, Eldridge Tinsley, mother Mary Kathryn Tinsley Loftis, and stepfather Bill Loftis.
Regis will be buried on Monday, December 21, 2020. A visitation will take place at First Baptist Church of Hendersonville on Sunday, December 20, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a service at 4:00 pm. Pallbearers will be Logan Ragland, Robert Ragland, Justin Ragland, Alex Huckeby, Byron Huckeby, David Brewington, Dr. Charles Lea, and Ed Bradley.
In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home
