Rena Woodard, 93, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and generosity.
Rena was known for her loving soul and endless kindness. A devoted prayer warrior, her faith guided her life. She was the longest-standing member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville, faithfully serving her church family for 76 years with quiet strength and devotion.
Her home was a place of warmth and welcome. A wonderful cook and gracious host, she loved gathering family around her table and making every occasion special. She had a deep love for bluegrass and country music and was a cherished presence at the Time Jumpers for more than 20 years, where she lovingly cooked for the green room. Rena also loved to travel and especially treasured time at Myrtle Beach.
She is survived by her brother, Kenny (Tracey); her son, Ron; her grandchildren Chris, Billy (Natalie), Christy (Trent), and Casey; her great-grandchildren Reagan (Eduardo), Daphne, Addie, Lilly, Jarrett, Grace, Thomas, Riley, Sophie, and Henry; and her great-great-grandchildren Eduardo and Hector. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alvin and Jack; her daughter, Mary Ann; and her grandson, Marty.
A verse dear to Rena was Romans 15:5 (ESV):
“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus.”
Her life reflected that verse. She leaves behind a family strengthened by her faith and a community blessed by her love.
Visitation will be held at Hendersonville Funeral Home and Memory Gardens on Thursday, February 19, from 3:00–6:00 p.m., and Friday, February 20, from 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. The service and burial will follow on Friday at 12:00 p.m.
