It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and untimely passing of Rhonda Lee Shorter, who passed away on June 11, 2026, at the age of 53 in Cottontown, Tennessee.
Rhonda was born on November 28, 1972, in Madison, Tennessee, to Ronald and Virginia Shorter.
She spent her youth in Hendersonville and Madison before eventually settling in Cottontown, Tennessee, where she resided with and helped care for our aging parents.
Rhonda began her working career at UPS then moved into a career as a travel agent, a fitting role for someone who loved visiting unfamiliar places and experiencing all that the world had to offer. Later, she devoted herself to being a full-time caregiver for our parents, a commitment that reflected her love for family. Throughout her life, her beloved “fur babies” remained a constant source of companionship and joy. Her four Chihuahuas—Riley, Milo, Lucy, and Reece, affectionately known as “Monster”—along with Harper, her Great Dane, and the big baby of the family, were truly her children.
She genuinely enjoyed traveling and exploring exciting new destinations. Her adventures took her to places such as New York, the Dominican Republic, Hawaii, and Paris France, just to name a few. Whether discovering a new destination or finding a special treasure, Rhonda knew how to enjoy life's little pleasures.
Rhonda was a Volunteer at the Bingo Barn in Guthrie, Kentucky for thirty plus years, which supported the National Wheel Cats Association. Even after passing, she left a legacy of generosity and compassion as an organ doner.
Rhonda will be remembered for her love of family, her adventurous spirit, her devotion to her fur babies, and the many ways she touched the lives of those around her. Though her passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who loved her, the memories she created and the love she shared will live on forever.
Survivors
Rhonda is survived by her brother Tracy Shorter, and his wife Mikki; her niece Brittany Jeffiers; nephews, Danny Rakes and TJ Shorter; along with other family members and loved ones who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ronald, and Virginia Shorter.
Celebration of Rhonda’s Life
Will be held at the Bingo Barn in Guthrie KY. on Saturday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly encouraged to attend, share stories, and celebrate the wonderful memories they made with Rhonda throughout her life.
Memorial Contributions
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rhonda's name to Kentucky Great Dane Rescue or to a favorite animal shelter or rescue organization, in her honor.
Rhonda's journey here may have ended far too soon, but we hope her next destination is filled with beautiful beaches, endless adventures, and the peace she so richly deserves.
Forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
