R. O. was a resident of Paris, Tennessee, for 45 years. He owned and operated a Fred’s franchise for more than 20 years and served as a Farm Bureau agent for 19 years. Throughout his career and community life, he was deeply committed to serving others. He served as president of the Paris Merchants Association, Paris Rotary Club, Henry County Chamber of Commerce, and Henry County Leadership Program.
His commitment to his church was also important to him. At Paris First Baptist Church, he served as Chairman of Deacons and chaired the Pastor Search Committee and Finance Committee. He was also recognized by the Paris Rotary Club as a Paul Harris Fellow for his service to the community.
Twenty years ago, R. O. and Hilda moved to Hendersonville, Tennessee, to be closer to their family. He became an active member of Hendersonville First Baptist Church, where his faith and relationships with family, friends, and fellow church members remained an important part of his life.
R. O. is survived by his wife, Hilda Dill Nason; his two sons, Dr. William Brent Nason (Rhonda) and Dr. Barron Scott Nason (Jessica); and five grandchildren, Lauren, Preston, Barron II, Cooper, and Sadie. He is also survived by his sister, Janie Burks. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Those who knew R. O. best will remember his legendary sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh. He loved being surrounded by family and friends and found great enjoyment in hunting, Arabian horses, dogs, and the many relationships he built throughout his life. His generosity, wit, and love for those around him made him a memorable presence in the lives of many.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, friendship, and laughter that will continue through his family and the many lives he touched.
